Tuesday was the first meeting of the TLC Leadership Team (LT) for 2021. All of the Leadership Team members stand for election each year and we’re all limited to 3 years consecutively. Church Councils are not known for their comradeship, there is often considerable contention evident, trust me if you’ve never been on one, I’ve served on several. This meeting was one of the most congenial meetings that I can recall.
First I just want to thank everyone who stood up and volunteered to serve on the LT this year. It does take away from your free time, and not only to attend meetings, but there is often some preparation for meetings required; I often give homework assignments! But I am always grateful that people give up their evenings to consider the business of Trinity Lutheran Church and contribute to the decisions that are made.
This meeting was focused on responding to a request from the Synod to consider delaying the usual sequence of conventions which would have started this year with a series of District conventions followed by a Synodical Convention in 2022. These conventions involve 100’s of people, and in the middle of a pandemic are probably not a good idea at all; and the LT decided to agree with the LCMS leadership in delaying these events for a year.
Also discussed was the need for more active fund raising in order to finance the anticipated construction of a new building in our front yard. A number of ideas were proposed and there will be continuing discussion about how to proceed with this.
Lastly, was an update on the plan for hosting a food truck in the church’s parking lot. This topic was discussed last year, and plans are ongoing to begin this soon. The specialty of this truck is sushi by the way.
If you want share a concern or comment feel free to reach out to me or any member of the LT. If you’d like to attend a meeting or even address the LT, just let me know.
