For over a year Trinity Lutheran Church has been picking up trash along a 2 mile stretch of Florida Route 54 in Trinity, from Little Road to Duck Slough. It takes about 3 hours on a Saturday morning, once every 3 months, to complete it with 4 teams. Each team takes a 1 mile section, either on the East bound side or the West bound side of the highway. If each team has at least 3 people it’s not too difficult, and during the winter months can be a pleasant morning outdoors. This is a simple and very visible way for TLC to make a difference in our community. Not only do we improve the appearance of the main thoroughfare in Trinity, we also get to keep a pair of signs along this busy highway with our name on them. FDOT estimates that over 50,000 vehicles pass these signs every day, and it doesn’t cost us a cent! Talk about effective and efficient advertising, wow! If you are available, and physically able to help out with this event, reach out to Julie Heidelmeyer or me.
