Who would have thought it? Not me; I figured that TLC would be doing good if we could provide Christmas presents for 35 senior citizens through the Senior Wish Tree this year. This was less than last year, but after a year like 2020, well it’s pretty hard to be optimistic. I gave 3 “Angels” to Charmaine’s Red Hats chapter. Then after the first weekend that the Senior Wish Tree was set up, I realized that I’d have to ask Volunteer Way for more “Angels”. Back I went and found that nearly all of the “Angels” were gone. They had over 200 when I first contacted them. I got 17 more from the few remaining, and next weekend all but 3 of these were taken! These last 3 received their gifts through a Thrivent Action Team, and I had money left over. That’s 47 “Angels” that TLC donated gifts for! and that’s MORE than last year. Given the emotional, physical, and financial difficulties that we’ve experienced this year, this is an amazing response, and simply saying thank you hardly begins to express my feelings about this outpouring of generosity. Every year since this program was started TLC has increased the number of gifts given and somehow, we’ve done it again.
All praise and glory be to God who first gave us all that we have so that we could share it with others.
