This month’s meeting spent a great deal of time on strategies for further re-opening of worship services. With continuing vaccination efforts, and decreasing numbers of COVID cases in our community we’d like to be able to return to a more normal style of worship; however after much debate we decided that it’s still too early to make many changes. We recognize that the desire to restore singing as part of our services is strong though and a couple of ideas were presented to accommodate this; possibly an outdoor format.
If nothing changes the plan is to have a congregational picnic on June 13, so save the date. Of course if we’ve learned anything in the past year it has to be “stay flexible.” You’ll be hearing more about this in the coming weeks but for now, just try to keep this date open.
Did you notice it? Trinity has a new sign just outside the front door. Now you may be asking why we needed a new sign since we already have one along Starkey Blvd. The answer is that when the neighboring blueberry farm is open for picking, there is a tremendous number of cars on Lake Blanche who probably didn’t see our front sign. So our new sign tells these folks who we are and where our webpage is. Thanks Les & Lorna for making this happen!
We’ve received notice that Pasco County is planning to install a traffic light at the intersection of Starkey Blvd and Lake Blanche which will definitely be a welcome improvement for us as we’re trying to leave church. We don’t have a definite date for this yet, but I’ll keep you informed when we hear more.
Last month I asked for volunteers for a new fund raising team to work on generating funds for the new building. Wow! did you step up for this. As of now this team has 8 members and we’re working on a first meeting schedule.
If you’ve been watching the financial reports in the bulletins lately you’ve noticed that the outstanding balance for our current mortgage has fallen quite low. The Leadership Team has begun discussing the possibility of paying off the remaining amount soon, to be debt free when we apply for a new mortgage for the new building. Thanks to everyone who’s donations have made this possible years before the scheduled payoff date.
Visitors are always welcome at Leadership Team meetings. Our next one is May 18 at 6:30 PM. If you’d like to address the team about a topic, just let me know.
I noticed the sign on Sat April 24th and said to self “I think that’s new”. Confirmed with Pastor on Sunday, Looks very nice. Also the traffic light will probably keep everyone in that high traffic area safer.
